Colour management

At WDL in one of the article I recently found discussion about colour management tools. Because I’m using one of these tools quite often I wanted to find out if there is some better tools I’m recently using. The criteria for this small test from my point of view was

  1. Simple to use
  2. Ability to export for Adobe tool (act)
  3. Share with social community.

As a first online colour application was flash based “colour rotation” which in many cases wasn’t that good as I expected. Clunky selection and even main function which is rotation doesn’t really work. Export and management was good. Registration and using account was great – not sure about the typeface they choose for their visuals.

Another online application is well known KULLER which I personally like. Flash based application with direct connection with all your Adobe tools – nice, simple and easy. Moreover you can pick the style and colour as retro, classic, rave etc.

Colormunki – is great for some one who is print based and need to know how to colour looks like on the screen and vice versa. CMYK value for different paper and different technology – is really useful.

Last application which I went through was color explorer. You have to watch a movie to understand how dos it works – well it say something already about product itself. Apart from that nice easy upload, fast recognizing of all colours in uploaded image. Matching and saving is erealy easy. Desktop oriented UI give us a bit of feeling as an application but in many interaction we are just back to WEB behaviour. Maybe next year we will see some improvement.
