Interview with Jackie Wu alias gekokid
I would like to introduce one of the student from New Designers Show 2008 that we recently hired for UBER - Creative team. Jackie was gladly to spend a time to answer a couple of questions.

“You are fresh gradated student from …. University, so please tell me where you see advantage or disadvantage of graduation like a Designer”
I don’t really see any disadvantage of studying to be a designer. Education can never be a bad thing, and nowadays it’s sort of essential to have a Bachelor’s Degree. I’m glad that I have taken it anyway, as it has opened my eyes, and doors for many things for me that would otherwise be not possible, or less easily obtained. For example, I wouldn’t have had the privilege to be one of the fifty fresh graduates in the UK to be exhibited at New Designers SELECTION 2008 otherwise. Besides, I have gained a friends during my university life.
Where do you find your inspiration or what’s inspire you?
I usually find inspiration on things that surround me, but a lot of the times were actually when I was at the computer, where a lot of acclaimed websites inspire me, where there are communities of artists around sharing ideas and techniques. Besides that I love traveling, and I would like to do it whenever I find the chance, to explore new places with my trusty camera. I can’t really say I particularly dig one sort of subject in terms of photography, but I do tend to enjoy landscapes and macro photography most. I also think lightings give me some sort of inspiration as well, especially when it’s sunset, which is my favorite time of day.

Do you have your self approach to manage all the stuff in the design process and if yes how?
I always tend to have the idea first, and then I visualise my ideas on a sketch, before actually figuring out how to do them. The technology part comes almost immediately after the visual approach, as I believe is not the most important part, as it’s always the end result that matters regardless how it was done. Besides, technologies can always be learned, but ideas don’t really work that way.

What was your expectation from design industry a how you feel now when you are in?
I don’t really expect anything from the design industry, apart from the obvious bread and butter, I do tend to think of where I would like to be in the industry, and what I would deliver to the industry. I’m never really the kind of person who gives expectations to things, so I suppose you could say I always expect the worst subconsciously and so I would not be disappointed. Obviously I would definitely be very disappointed at myself if I didn’t get into the design industry after all these years!
What is your goal and how do you achieve it?
My current goal so far is to be able to deliver my best for the world to see, that my work would be seen everyday and talked by everyone. My dream position would either be working on a feature film at Pixar, or
designing the next Tomb Raider game! As to how I’m going to achieve it, I suppose I am just going to give my very best!

Can you tell us where we can find out more about yourself?
